Do you know how to volunteer in a disaster?
Volunteer Fairfax has been the lead agency for disaster volunteer management in Fairfax County for close to a decade. We recently re-wrote our Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) procedures in an effort to incorporate the lessons we have learned over years of activations and exercises. The new plan, to be tested on Tuesday, March 20th, will allow us to effectively double the number of volunteers we can process in any given disaster. This is an exciting time for disaster volunteer management and you can be part of it! In order for the exercise to be a success, we need you to volunteer! Please join us any time between 10am and 1pm to serve as actors in this disaster simulation. By joining us for 30 minutes, you can help better prepare your community for the next disaster.
Interested volunteers should email Volunteer Fairfax at firstname.lastname@example.org. No prior training is needed and there are no physical limitations prohibiting participation, making this a great event ages 14 and up. Participants will be asked to provide general feedback and suggestions after exiting the VRC. The event will be held in Conference Rooms E and F Johnson Center on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University.
Where: 3rd Floor of the Johnson Center at George Mason University
When: Tuesday, March 20th 10:00am-1:00 pm
