Ho Ho Ho! Holiday Luminary Set for
December 24
The annual luminary is scheduled to take place this year on
Dec. 24, Christmas Eve! Bags, candles, stone and directions
for how to assemble the luminary will be delivered (by
volunteers) to your homes on Dec. 23. Then on Dec. 24,
light the candles and enjoy the beautiful glow! If you are
new to the neighborhood, you will enjoy this beautiful
sight.
Please join your neighbors to assemble the luminary kits on
Sat., Dec. 23, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Stolls’ house,
4801 Tabard. Come for the holiday cheer and camaraderie, or
for teens—come to earn some community service hours! See
you then!

Homes Tour A
Big Success!!
The Long Branch Homes Tour took place on Sunday,
Sept. 17 and judging by the waves of people that
worked their way around the neighborhood, it proved
a popular pastime for those who are looking for
great ideas for ways to enhance the functionality
and look of their homes.
|
Seven Long Branch families
graciously opened up their homes and welcomed their
neighbors in. They shared their renovated kitchens—some
with pro-style appliances, granite countertops, and
wide-open seating areas, modern and expansive “great” rooms,
updated bathrooms, a workshop, an art studio, and lots of
space for entertaining and family time—inside and out!
Thanks
to all who showed their homes: the Brownings; the Malicos;
the Roberts; the Hoffmans; the Siegals; the Burns; and the
(Fox) Hirschmanns. Any many thanks to the hard-working team
that pulled the whole thing together, including Ruth
Anne Stoll, Jackie Lluy and Zena Thomas. Thanks also to Jo
Manley, Michelle Johnson and the Long Branch Swim and
Racquet Club for helping out. The $400 in proceeds from the
Homes Tour have been donated to the LBSRC.
So don’t be surprised if you
see more contractors than ever this spring!

For the first time
in a while, Long Branch did not have a Halloween
Party at the pool this year. And unfortunately, the
annual Santa visit is not taking place this year
either. This is because the community is still in
need of a volunteer to organize social events for
our community. If you are interested, please
contact Mark Wiggins, president of the Long Branch
Civic Association. But as noted above, the annual
Luminary will go on, thanks to the generous support
of our Long Branch neighbors. |
If
you are interested in helping with the Long Branch
neighborhood watch, more volunteers are needed. Please
contact Barbara Mink at barbmink@cox.net.

I
hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Holiday.
As we close the year, we have a number of events to
celebrate the Holiday Season. The Stolls have agreed to
continue the neighborhood tradition of hosting the working
party for the luminary on December 23 and the luminary will
be displayed on December 24. We encourage those who will be
in town to participate and add to the Christmas Spirit.
I
ask for volunteers to help run our social calendar for 2007,
as we need help to coordinate events and create new fun
family events for the community. Additionally, if there are
any teenagers who need hours for community service, there
are number of projects that will help improve the community
and help you earn those hours. Please contact me and we
will get those projects started in the New Year.
The brick entrance at Guinea and King David was damaged last
week in an automobile accident. Thankfully nobody was
seriously injured and we are in the process of getting that
fixed.
We will host a Long Branch Civic Association meeting
on Wednesday, January 17 at 7 p.m. at Canterbury Woods
Elementary School (in the cafeteria) to discuss upcoming
events, concerns and issues for 2007.
I
appreciate everyone’s help and look forward to working
together in 2007.
